County Lines Defence Solicitors

County-lines cases can involve serious supply allegations and concerns about exploitation. Peter Bonner & Co represents adults and children in London, Kent and substantial prosecutions nationally. Call 020 8297 1727 or request a confidential discussion.

Look at the individual allegation

The prosecution may rely on a deal phone, travel, messages, cash, accommodation or association with other defendants. We identify what conduct is alleged against you, test attribution and examine whether the evidence proves knowledge and participation. A label such as county lines does not replace proof of the particular offence.

We review communications in context, the chronology, links between devices and people, and material that may support an alternative account. In a large case, it matters that evidence against other defendants is not treated automatically as evidence against you.

Coercion, grooming and safeguarding

Tell us about threats, debt, violence, missing episodes, pressure from older people or control over travel and accommodation. A person investigated as a suspect may also be a victim of exploitation. We consider appropriate safeguarding, evidence about coercion and whether further enquiries or representations are needed.

The section 45 modern-slavery defence has specific requirements and does not cover every offence. Children and adults have different statutory tests. A positive trafficking decision is not an automatic acquittal; the connection with the alleged offending and the legal framework still require careful analysis. Where a statutory defence is unavailable, other issues concerning prosecution or mitigation may remain relevant.

Role and sentence

If sentence is required, the actual role, knowledge and benefit alleged matter. Evidence of pressure, immaturity or exploitation should be investigated and presented properly. Read our drugs-defence guidance, including how supply sentencing is approached.

Frequently asked questions

My child was carrying drugs for someone else. Does that end the case?

Not automatically. The evidence, age, offence and any exploitation need individual advice. Read our youth defence guidance.

What should families preserve?

Keep messages, dates of missing episodes, relevant school or support information and police paperwork. Do not delete material or approach others involved to agree accounts.

Can you advise before charge?

Yes. Early police-station advice and appropriate representations can matter. We explain the funding available for the work required.

Do you take Legal Aid cases?

Peter Bonner & Co accepts instructions on a private fee basis and under Legal Aid. We explain eligibility and arrangements at the outset.
