Criminal Legal Aid
Peter Bonner & Co holds a criminal legal aid contract and can advise whether publicly funded representation is available for your case.
Call 020 8297 1727 to discuss your position.
Police station advice
Independent legal advice at the police station is free, regardless of your income. This applies whether you have been arrested or invited to attend a voluntary interview under caution.
Court proceedings
Legal Aid for Magistrates’ Court and Crown Court proceedings depends on the applicable rules. Eligibility can involve the seriousness of the case, the interests of justice and financial circumstances.
We will explain:
- Whether an application can be made
- What information and documents are required
- Whether a contribution may be payable
- What happens if eligibility changes
- The alternatives if Legal Aid is unavailable
Already represented?
A transfer of Legal Aid is not automatic. In appropriate circumstances the court may permit a change of solicitor where the relevant test is met. Contact us if you are concerned about the conduct or preparation of a substantial case.
